Nyeti wisdom on the Four rules...

The problem with too many rules is people start to ignore them. The beauty of the four is they are fail safe's to each other. You REALLY have to jack up several to hurt somebody. Also, the way I break them down when we do our safety lecture is that rules 1&4 are mindset rules, and 2&3 are physical gun handling rules. In that context, it is even simpler.

RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY
RULE III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHATS BEYOND IT
